Jordan has always had an obsession with the Rhone Valley and the varieties. Well Syrah is without a doubt the most known variety that comes from the Rhone so why not start to dive in from there. It is also a variety that is wildly different in so many areas around the world whether it be a hot climate Australian or Paso Robles style, a classic Northern Rhone like h’Ermitage, Cornas or Cote Rotie, cool climates like some Washington State and British Columbia and yes even here in Virginia. It is a variety that is transparent of where it is from with many tell-tales. Learn how to distinguish Syrah beyond all varieties and understand the differences region to region.
- Tasting – All wines will be Syrah based however it will still be separated into two flights so that we can open some discussion on some of our discoveries to use going into the second flight.
- Reception – light fare that will also include some bites traditional in the areas the Syrah thrives. We will also taste a Sparkling Shiraz/Syrah to kick off the evening as a fun wine to get in the spirit.
