June 17th - Summer Wines
Summer wines mean an array of different things. The one main thing that each of the wines we taste today is that they suit the summer life style in some way. That could mean a bottle of Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc that is acting as a perfect patio aperitif, a fabulous high end Rose to sip beside the pool, a powerful Zinfandel to enjoy with your grilled burgers or a refined and complex Pinot or Grenache to savor on the beach after the kids are in bed. This really is the most exciting time of year to enjoy wine. Many bottles can act as the lead of the gathering unlike during special holidays. It is also a well suited time for the best food pairings, relaxed atmospheres and happy attitudes.
· Tasting – Two Flights
o Flight one: Racy whites great for salads, patio sipping, pool side and aperitifs (or just drinking because they are awesome) – likely to include: Top notch Rose, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, or Chenin Blanc.
o Flight Two: Rich reds for grill outs like Zinfandel or powerful Mourvedre and refined reds for savoring like Pinot Noir and Grenache or Nebbiolo.
· Reception – Given that we have a lot more sunlight and Jordan loves this time of year we will likely reverse the order for this tasting. After the tasting we will enjoy a great grill out to get into the beautiful summer season with some great sips and local bites.
